Austin Waterway Guardians operates a core waterway restoration program, with additional community based initiatives that support healing, connection, and stewardship through time on the water.

Waterway Restoration and Stewardship

This program focuses on debris removal, invasive species control, and native habitat restoration across Lake Austin and Lady Bird Lake. Activities include organized cleanups, shoreline restoration, and follow up monitoring to improve water quality and protect native ecosystems. Community volunteers and workforce participants support this work under experienced supervision to ensure safe, effective, and measurable outcomes.

Fishing Church Therapeutic Fishing and Boating

Fishing Church is a therapeutic fishing and boating program operated as a program of Austin Waterway Guardians. The program uses guided time on the water to support healing, connection, and mentorship, particularly for veterans and individuals navigating major life changes. Fishing Church complements our core waterway restoration work by fostering stewardship, respect for waterways, and positive community connection through shared outdoor experiences.
